Built in 1820s, the 'Residency Indore' or the 'Residency Kothi' was the seat of the Resident of the East India Company / British rule, and later that of the Agent to the Governor General for Central India !!
The 1857 War of Independence had taken grievous form in Indore during the period !! The revolutionaries, namely Bhagirath Silwat and Saadat Khan had made a plan to blow off the Kothi, as it was the hub of the activities of the British Government !!
Currently, the 100-year old building stands in majestic pride in the city, housing important meetings of the government officials !! It is also the government guest house in Indore !!
